Hey! Welcome to Bravely Go. Here you’ll find a community that shares practical, actionable, and intersectional financial advice, with a whole bunch of jokes and politics along the way.
We educate people on how to take control of their own finances by budgeting, paying off debt, learning to invest, and growing their income.
We talk about how money works in our society, and the systems we all live in that affect our daily lives. We believe understanding and controlling money is not just for old white men in suits. It’s for the woman in yoga pants at a coffee shop, the woman in red lipstick at the bar, and the woman pushing the stroller down the street.
This is a community for you to have honest conversations about your money, our world, and what changes you want to make in both.
What do y’all do here?
We’re a politically minded money community that hosts skill-building workshops, large educational events, and creates money tools for our community, so that YOU can get your money right.
If you’ve ever wondered why so many money articles tell you to give up coffee to save money but fail to mention how wages haven’t gone up in a meaningful way for decades, you’ll fit in nicely here.
We create tools and conversation for anyone who listens to Rihanna sing ‘bitch better have my money’ and takes that vibe into a negotiation session.
What kind of tools? Check out our resources page for our full list of recommendations!

Meet the Founder, Kara Perez
Bravely was founded in January 2017 by Kara Perez. Kara discovered her love of finances courtesy of her quarter-life crisis. Broke, underemployed and saddled with student loan debt, she realized that her lack of financial education was crippling her adulthood.
But everywhere she looked, it seemed like only rich, white couples were giving financial advice. Being a single pringle, and working 5 part time jobs, Kara decided to start Bravely as a place where other people who didn’t fit in in the financial mainstream could come to learn about and change their money.
In 2013, Kara earned $16,183.51
In 2014, Kara earned $18,423
In 2015, Kara earned $32,249.63
(All of these numbers are before tax.)
Kara paid off $30,000 in loans and interest on a salary of less than $26,000, the final $18,000 in just ten months. After becoming debt free in June 2015, Kara created Bravely to help other women take control of their financial lives.
Kara believes in the power of Oprah, loves the color green, and can most often be found with her curls up in a bun, drinking her 80 oz of water every day.
Kara speaks at events across the US, including FinCon and the Lola Retreat. Bravely was nominated for Plutus Awards in 2017 and 2018. You can find Bravely on Forbes, Glamour Magazine, US News and World Report, Austin CultureMap, Austin Woman Magazine, and Lifehacker.
